Nebraska likely to stick with three drug cocktail

State Officials are being asked to reconsider a three drug protocol for lethal injection. At a public hearing this morning, some Nebraska attorneys are asking for the reconsideration after hearing about a botched execution in Ohio. The State Department of corrections was required to hold this morning’s public hearing as spokeswoman Dawn Renea Smith explains.
“Recent legislation changed the method of execution from electricution to lethal injection which requires the Department of Correctional services to develop a written execution protocol.”
Ohio decided to replace a three drug protocol with one drug following a botched execution in September.  Nebraska’s Department of Corrections has decided to stay with the three drug cocktail.
