A character win for Huskers, Pelini calls Blackshirts "shoddy"

The 31-17 win for the Huskers looks like a big win, but the fact is the Huskers were down 17-16 with just over seven and a half minutes to play. Afterwards, head coach Bo Pelini was excited agreeing this is a great character win for the Huskers.
On a day when the defense didn’t play up to the standard that we’ve been used too, it was the offense that came out of its slumber and they picked the right game to do it. Roy Helu, carried the ball 28 times for 156 yards and scored three times, including 82 of those yards coming in the fourth quarter, with touchdowns runs of 20 and 14 yards.
The Huskers rushed for 214 and Zac Lee completed 13-of-21 passes for 196 yards, giving the Huskers 410 yards of total offense. Lee just made enough plays to keep the offense moving. He says he’s grown a lot from this season of adversity.
Back to that defense, as much as Pelini was happy with the win, the defense needs to get back to work, not naming positions for players, but he said there were too many opportunities given to KU. He thought the tackling was shoddy. He said he is far from happy with the way the Blackshirts played.
This Saturday, the Big 12 North will come down to this game between the Huskers and K-State. 6:45 kick. The game will air on ESPN. More on that coming up this week.
