Council calls for public option

Over 50 civil rights organizations have joined together to push for a strong public option. Members of the Nebraska NAACP gathered in the Capitol Rotunda this morning to advocate for a public option in the current health care bill. Nebraska Senator Brenda Council of Omaha spoke at the event.
“It’s to provide an option for those folks who find themselves falling in that gap between not having employer provided insurance and not meeting the eligibility standards for state and federally supported programs.”
Speakers at the event says the current health care system descriminates against people of all races just because they are sick.
