Big Red Report–Pelini sights lack of execution

I’m not going to say that I saw this coming, but I’m not entirely surprised either by Nebraska’a 31-10 loss against Texas Tech. When you consider how the offense struggled at Virginia Tech, the blown coverage by Missouri that led to NU’s first score and subsequently starting field position at MU’s 20 and 10 which led to two other late scores, there is no doubt some things need to change after Saturday’s 10 points output against Tech. The offense is not moving the ball.
Pelini brought it up a number of times during his post game press conference, the lack of execution from his team. It just wasn’t one area either. It was all facets of the game. As far as the offense, head coach Bo Pelini was not about the begin criticizing offensive coordinator Shawn Watson. He said for the most part, he liked the playcalling, it just came down to missing receivers, not catching the ball, not pushing off blocks, etc. He said it makes it tough to call successful plays when they’re not being executed.
So it’s back to work this Monday for Iowa State who comes in 1-2 in the Big 12. The Huskers tied with KU and Colorado at 1-1 who all trail Kansas State who is 2-1. To say the Big 12 north is wide open is an understatement.
