Man sentenced in landlord's death

A three-year-old murder case in Anderson has finally reached a point of resolution. A South Carolina man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of his landlord.
Fifty-four-year-old Sammy Ray Wilbanks has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. He faced up to 30 years in prison. The Anderson Independent Mail reports that he was originally charged with murder in the 2006 death of his former roommate and landlord, Charles Worley. Wilbanks was arrested in 2007 after autopsy results and a witness’s testimony. Authorities say Worley was beaten to death.
