Scientific Research Corporation (SRC) will expand operations at its Charleston County facility. The company that supplies technology and engineering to the military invest $4 million and add 300 jobs over the next five years.
Michael Watt, president and CEO of Scientific Research Corporation says SRC has experienced strong growth in recent years. Company officials say the North Charleston facility supplies a “full range of engineering, integration, testing, support and research and development activities.”
In a state Commerce Department press release, Gov. Mark Sanford says, “Charleston County is increasingly becoming home to a growing commercial hub focused on defense technology. In that same release, North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey welcomed the 300 new jobs SRC says it will bring to the area.
The Commerce Department cites numbers from the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics saying South Carolina ranks among the top five states for employment in several important engineering occupations.
