A tire importer is building a new distribution center in Charleston and the Port of Charleston played a key role. Tire importer, TBC Corporation will plan to open a new distribution facility in late 2010 near Summerville. The new 1 million square foot facility is expected to create about 100 new jobs and help boost the local economy.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the warehouse will handle imported and domestic tires and get them ready for shipment throughout the Southeast. Erik Olsen with TBC says one of the key parts in the decision to bring TBC’s distribution center to the Charleston area was the Port of Charleston and the access it allows for shipment.
The construction will begin by the end of the year.
