MLB owners approve sale of Chicago Cubs

Major League Baseball owners approved the sale of the Chicago Cubs from the bankrupt Tribune Co. to the family of online brokerage billionaire and longtime fan Joe Ricketts.
Tom Ricketts, could take day-to-day control of the Cubs by the end of the month. The Ricketts, known for its stake in Omaha’s TD Ameritrade Holding Corp., takes control of 95% of the team and in Wrigley Field, the second-oldest ballpark in the majors behind Boston’s Fenway Park.
The $845 million deal also includes about a 25% share of the regional cable TV network Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
