Sidney police chief quits

The City of Sidney is looking for a new police chief. Sidney City Manager Gary Person announced Thursday that Sidney Police Chief Larry Cox turned in his resignation, effective October 9.
A press release states Cox has decided to resign for personal reasons after 8 years as Sidney’s Police Chief and a 33-year law enforcement career. The release calls it a resignation / retirement, and Cox wasn’t immediately available for comment late Thursday afternoon.
Person says, “The City of Sidney wants to thank Chief Cox for his dedicated service and commitment to the community of Sidney, to law enforcement and to the department. He worked towards numerous improvements in the department under his leadership and has been instrumental in the recruitment, hiring and promotions of our many present day officers and staff.”

Person says Sidney’s search for a new chief will begin immediately.
