Governor's high school visit canceled

Governor Sanford was scheduled to meet with students of Summerville High School Tuesday to discuss the school’s newspaper and TV shows. However, The Post and Courier reports officials blame crowding and timing for the cancellation of the governor’s visit.
Dorchester District 2 spokeswoman Pat Raynor told the Charleston newspaper that school officials thought Sanford’s presence would cause a disruption to the overcrowded high school, one of the largest in the state. Raynor requested for the meeting to be moved off of the school’s campus.
Sanford’s spokesman Ben Fox says the governor’s schedule was so tight, it was hard to make the move fit. One of the students set to talk with the governor, Shannon Graves, says she and others planned on asking Sanford questions about education, not about his personal issues.
