The Lincoln Saltdogs are the American Association League Champs. They held off the Pensacola Pelicans 2-1 Sunday to win the best of five series 3 games to 2. Lincoln scored a run in the first and Pensacola loaded the bases in the second inning and then again in the sixth after Lincoln took a 2-0 lead, but could only score one run.
m Paduch, who went 3-0 in postseason play got the win after going 5.2 innings. He left in that sixth inning when the Pelicans had the bases loaded, but Adam Daniels got the last out on a strikeout.
The Pelicans put a runner on in the eighth, but closer Chris Thompson came on to get the final six outs. Thompson was a great mid-season pick up for this team that struggled in the first half, but got off to a quick start in the second half and held out St.Paul to win the second half north division and then beat first half winner Wichita in four games.
