Lee leads Huskers to big win over ASU

Quarterback Zac Lee threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns finding 11 different Husker relievers as the Husker roll up a big 38-9 win over Arkansas State Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The Husker move to 2-0 and now get ready for their first test of the year at Virginia Tech next week.
Lee was 27 of 35. Earlier in the week, the offensive coaches said they would try to find a way to get Niles Paul more involved and they weren’t kidding. Paul pulled in six catches (a career high) for 69 yards and his first touchdown reception. Paul finished with 169 all purpose yard. Lee shared the wealth to his receivers. Junior tight end Mike McNeill had two touchdowns. Menelik Holt had a career-best five catches for 40 yards, while Roy Helu Jr. grabbed four receptions for 44 yards and had 60 yards on 14 carries.
On our Big Red Report, we talked all week about Ark.State’s front four being very strong. They held NU to just 121 rushing yards on the afternoon. On the other side of the ball, the Blackshirts held the Red Wolves to 272 total yards.
The only scoring drive for ASU came after a facemask penalty after the Huskers were forced to punt. The fifteen yard infraction gave the Red Wolves the ball at the NU 32 which led to a touchdown and missed PAT.
