Saltdogs drop game one in 11 innings

The Lincoln Saltdogs rallied three separate times last night against Pensacola, but in the 11th inning an unearned run helped give the Pelicans a 7-6 win and a 1-0 lead in the American Association Championship Series last night at Haymarket Park.
Argelis Nunez went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. The Saltdogs with just six hits on the night are now in a must win situation at home tonight or they could fall two games to none in this best of five series and turn to starter Jim Paduch in game two.
Trailing 3-1 after the top of the third, Lincoln scored a run in the bottom of the inning to pull within a run, and tied it in the fourth on a solo homer by Gavin Dickey. Pensacola went ahead in the fifth on a homer, but Argelis Nuñez tied it again on his solo shot in the sixth. The Pelicans scored twice in the seventh to take a 6-4 advantage, but Nuñez came up with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the seventh, and hit a two-run single to tie the game at six.
An error by Albenis Machado at short, followed by a sac bunt and double by Lou Palmisano gave Pensacola the lead and win.
