NU volleyballl sets NCAA record with win over CU

No. 6 Nebraska beat Creighton with a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-23, 25-16) Tuesday night at the NU Coliseum. The win was Nebraska’s record 88th consecutive home victory, breaking a tie it had held with Penn State for the longest in NCAA history.
Nebraska is now 2-1 on the season, while Creighton dropped to 1-2. CU gave the Huskers a tough run. After
Creighton fell behind 5-0 to start the match, they rallied to 17-16 and 20-19, before the Huskers pulled away late in the first set, scoring the final five points for the 25-19 win.
Again, in the second set, CU fell behind 5-1 and found themselves down 21-15 before closing the score to 24-23, but came up short again. NU then went on a 6-1 run early in the third set to go up 9-3 and cruise from there on.
Junior middle blocker Jordan Wilberger, of Scottsbluff, had a career high 10 kills on .467 hitting and two blocks. Tara Mueller had a match high 12 kills. With the record now at 88 matches, the Huskers have not lost a home match dating back to 2004.
