Big Red Report–Pelini not happy

It’s amazing how quickly things can change in football. One day after the coaches were coming off the practice field beaming about the way the Huskers practiced, Bo Pelini’s tune was much different after Wednesday’s practice.
He talked about lack of consistency, lack of focus, and lack of effort. You’ll hear a montage of his sound clips in this report. Yesterday I reported that Shawn Watson was leaning toward true freshmen Cody Green over Latravis Washington as the number two quarterback. Pelini was asked about that and he said not so quick saying nothing is guaranteed at this point.
Well, I’m sure that’s a little bit of frustration coming from Pelini. Latravis Washington, who switched from linebacker said he told his family he’s sticking with quarterback and isn’t going to let the talk of 2nd or 3rd string affect what he does.
Update you on a couple of individual positions. Defensive backs coach Marvin Sanders is very happy with his group and likes what he sees so far. Running backs coach Tim Beck says that Marcus Mendoza still has a lot of work ahead of him, but he is getting up to speed with Roy Helu and Rex Burkhead.
