Husker VB ranked third in AVCA poll

The Nebraska volleyball team was ranked third in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The Huskers did not receive one first place vote. The Huskers finished third in the AVCA poll at the end of last season. National Champion Penn State was picked first with Texas second and Washington fourth. Those three schools did receive first place votes.
The Huskers bring back five starters including including All-Americans Tara Mueller and Sydney Anderson, plus the return of injured Kori Cooper. However, the team that went 31-3 and reached the NCAA semifinals for the third time in the last four seasons, will also feature five freshmen including native Gina Mancuso who was named National Player of the Year.
The Big 12 had four teams ranked. No. 13 Iowa State joined Texas and Nebraska in the top 15. Kansas State rounded out the selections at No. 22. In addition, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Baylor all received votes by the coaches.
The Red/White Scrimmage is Saturday night at the NU Coliseum. Tickets can be purchased at or by calling the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office at 800-8-BIGRED. Prices are set at $10 (adults) and $8 (youth and seniors), while all UNL Students will be admitted free with their valid N-Card. All tickets for the Red/White Scrimmage are general admission.
