Two Mavs earned Preseason honors

UNO nose guard Zac Keller and kicker Greg Zuerlein were both named to the all-MIAA pre-season first team as chosen by the website, D2Football.com.
Keller enters his senior season as the third leading tackler among returning players. In eleven games last year, he had 14 solo tackles and 49 overall. The native of Kearney, Neb. has 77 career tackles in 31 games. Keller was named to the all-MIAA second team following the 2008 season.
Zuerlein was one of the top field goal kickers in the MIAA last year. He led the league with an 81.8 field goal percentage and was fourth in both kick scoring per game (6.4) and field goals per game (0.82). The Lincoln, Neb. native was an all-MIAA first team selection a year ago. He finished third in team scoring after making nine of eleven field goals and 43 of 45 PATs.
The Mavericks will open the season on Thursday, Aug. 27 when they host East Central University of Oklahoma at 7 p.m. Season and individual game tickets are on sale through the UNO ticket office and by calling (402) 554-MAVS.
