Creighton soccer has three on watch list

Fifth-year seniors Byron Dacy, Chris Schuler and Seth Sinovic of the Creighton men’s soccer team have been named to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List – the annual award for college soccer’s top player. Dacy is on the list for a record fourth consecutive season, while Creighton – joined by Loyola (Md.) as school’s with three student-athletes on the list – has now had at least one player on the watch list in eight of the last nine seasons.
Dacy is the only player to ever be named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List four times. He was tabbed a freshman All-American and the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year after a breakout rookie season in 2005, leading the team with nine goals and 27 points. The Omaha Creighton Prep product suffered a season-ending injury in 2007, thus earning a medical redshirt. Back for his fifth year, Dacy is the active leading scorer for the Bluejays with 17 goals, 19 assists and 53 career points.
Schuler, the 2008 MVC Defensive Player of the Year, was named a second-team NSCAA All-American last year after leading one of the top defenses in the nation. The center back played all but 12 minutes of his junior season, helping the Bluejays post a school-record 13 shutouts and lead the NCAA in shutout percentage (.650). A captain, his ability to shut down the opposition has earned him numerous conference and regional accolades, starting 59 of 60 matches during his time in Omaha.
Sinovic appeared to finish his career last December, but after an appeal to the NCAA he earned a fifth year of eligibility after playing just four minutes during his first season on campus in 2005. The all-region and all-MVC player is also an academic all-district honoree and scholar All-American. His play in the back last year helped the Jays rank second in the NCAA with a 0.48 goals against average. This captain played every minute in CU’s final 17 matches last year and also tied for the team-lead with six assists.
