Charleston-based company introduces new Mac accessories

A new Charleston-based worldwide company started up last week, and plans call for extensive new accessories for Mac computers.
Twelve South head of creative Andrew Green explains more: “We’re in Apple stores in North America with two out of three of our first products, and last week our web site went live to support the sales out there at the Apple stores, as well as take direct sales on our web site, and kind of tell people what Twelve South is about,” says Green.
Green says they have been working on the start-up since the beginning of the year. They plan on introducing up to 12 products each year, but for the initial launch, there are two products.
“At the Apple Store they carry the book art, which is a stand for the Mac books, and the back pack, which is a shelf that goes on the back of the iMac and Apple Cinema displays,” says Green.
These products, designed by Green, are made overseas, and shipped around the world, but the headquarters in Charleston was chosen for various reasons.
“We were wondering where to start up, rode over the bridge and looked down and saw all of the freight ships coming in and thought, ‘yeah, Charleston could be a great place for that,’ and it’s a great to place to live and inspiring, and when the Apple Store came to Charleston it was a perfect place for us to hang out and start up Twelve South from Charleston,” says Green.
Green explains what the company does for the state as a whole, “For South Carolina as a whole, it that is supports the tech-community as well, all the way down from Greenville to Charleston, and we’re just happy to be a part of it,” says Green.
