USC dismisses Innovista developer

According to a State newspaper report the University of South Carolina has fired one of the point men fot its ambitious Innovista project. According to the report the Detroit-based developer Kale Roscoe, who was hired to construct part of the school’s public-private partnership aimed at nurturing high-tech companies was dismissed. Roscoe was chosen to build the private portion of USC’s downtown Columbia research campus.The university says it let Roscoe go because he couldn’t secure a loan for the campus’ first private building, nine months after his deadline for starting construction. Roscoe says he had secured funding and was ready to proceed with the project.
Two public research buildings already constructed atĀ Innovista are empty. Two private structures on the drawing board are yet to be built. Innovista will also be the home of the university’s new business school building.
