Barcelo wins first Nationwide Tour title

Rich Barcelo shot a 65 on Sunday to get to 20 under par and give the 11 year pro his first win on the Nationwide Tour as he edged our third round leader Michael Sim. Had Sim held on he would have won his third tournament of the year and would have been promoted to the PGA Tour.
Barcelo won $130,500 and improved from 39th to seventh on the year’s money list with $195,596. The 34 year old birdie three of the final five holes and nearly eagled 17.
Local Nebraska golfers didn’t fare well in the final round. Brady Schnell’s three over 74 dropped him from a top-25 finish and a spot in next week’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational in Columbus, Ohio and Lincoln native Steve Friesen, dropped on the season money list.
