Omaha bullpen shuts down Iowa comeback

Omaha beat up on Iowa Cubs’ starter Jose Ascanio scoring six runs in 1.2 innings as the Royals jumped out to a 9-0 lead only to see Iowa claw back to 9-6. The O-Royals’ bullpen shut down Iowa from the 7th inning on for the win.
Omaha’s bullpen hasn’t allowed a run in 14.1 innings over the last four games. Heath Phillips got the win despite giving up six runs in six innings. Doug Waechter pitched an inning of relief and Carlos Rosa pitched the 8th and 9th to pick up his sixth save of the year.
Tug Hulett went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and scored twice and Mario Lisson had two doubles.
