Guard promotes first woman to brigadier general

For the first time in its long history, the Nebraska National Guard is promoting a woman to the rank of brigadier general.
Roma Amundson is currently a colonel, but she’ll be promoted to general in a special ceremony this weekend. The 59-year-old Amundson has spent more than half her life in the Guard, with 31 years of service.
She’s a native of Lynch and now lives near Lincoln where she serves as the Guard’s assistant adjutant general.
The promotion ceremony is Saturday at 10 AM at the Guard armory in Lincoln.
