Saltdogs end first half with a loss

The Lincoln Saltdogs couldn’t finish a sweep of Wichita Sunday, falling 4-0 to the Wingnuts at Haymarket Park. Lincoln ends the first half with a 22-26 record nine games behind Wichita.
Wichita broke a scoreless tie in the seventh, scoring a run with two out on an infield single by Nick Blasi against Lincoln reliever Matt Reilly (1-1). The Wingnuts then put the game away with three runs in the eighth.
The Saltdogs managed just seven hits and missed out on quite a few two out, potential RBI at-bats, but couldn’t come through including leaving the bases loaded in the first.
Jonathan Figueroa starting for the second time in three days after his Friday start was suspended by rain in the third inning, went three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.
After an off-day Monday, the Saltdogs head to Sioux City on Tuesday to open the second half.
