Tornado clean-up is moving quickly

One of last night’s tornadoes hit near Aurora. The twister ripped the roof off a pet food plant and derailed several Burlington Northern Santa Fe train cars. At least one home was destroyed a few miles west of Aurora, but the town was spared from any significant damage.

Governor Dave Heineman says cleanup was rapid. He says all the tracks are clear and trains were moving shortly after 8 AM. Highway 34 is open again now and no deaths or injuries are reported.

Governor Heineman praises the work of local and state emergency management officials in getting things back to normal in Hamilton County. While the roof was torn off the Iams plant near Aurora, officials at the plant expect to have production started back up within 24 hours.
