Weekend fun turned fatal on Nebraska’s largest reservoir Saturday. According to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, a 42-year-old man from Parker, Colorado, was pronounced dead after the Eliminator speed boat he was traveling in crashed on Lake McConaughy Saturday afternoon.
The man’s 42-year-old wife, 15-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son were transported to the Ogallala Community Hospital. The mother and daughter were later transferred to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. The son was released from the Ogallala hospital and traveled to Denver with his family.
The speed boat has not yet been located. According to game and parks, alcohol and weather were not believed to be factors and officials are investigating the possibility of a mechanical failure. The names have not yet been released and the accident remains under investigation by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
