Longtime NU men's gymnastics coach to retire

After 40 years, the longest tenured coach in NU history, men’s gymnastics coach Francis Allen will retire at the end of this month. He led Nebraska teams into 25 of the last 31 NCAA Championships at one point winning eight national titles in 16 years. Despite budget concerns, athletic director Tom Osborne has assured everyone that the sport will return next season.  Allen has acheived a long list of accomplishments, but what I’m impressed with the most is his longevity in the sports. When Allen started in 1969, he was the youngest coach in the nation. Now, Allen will leave as the oldest.
