Gardner sets Saltdogs record for career wins

Lincoln Saltdogs pitcher Jarrett Gardner became the team’s all-time winningest pitcher on Thursday, beating the St. Paul Saints 9-4 at Haymarket Park. Gardner is now 27-12 in his Lincoln career, passing Kyle Ruwe for the record.
Gardner (4-0) allowed all four runs on 12 hits in eight innings pitched. Jarrett struck out two, and did not walk a batter and got of some tight jams with three double play balls. He got the record in dramatic fashion, on a called strike three to St. Paul’s Jacob Butler, who homered off Gardner earlier in the game.
Lincoln heads out on the road Friday, traveling to Wichita to begin a three-game weekend series. Lefty Vince Davis will make the start for the Saltdogs.
