Saltdogs can't rally, lose 7-4 to St. Paul

The Lincoln Saltdogs couldn’t come back from an early 6-0 deficit on Wednesday, falling 7-4 to the St. Paul Saints at Haymarket Park. Lincoln’s record drops to 8-11 on the season. St. Paul scored a pair of runs in the first inning, and blew the game open in the third, scoring four more runs against Saltdogs starter Jim Paduch (2-2).
Saints starter Brandon Kintzler (3-1) cruised through the first four innings, but Lincoln got back in the game in the fifth on a two-run single by Steve Alexander. The Saltdogs added runs in the sixth on Shea McFeely’s RBI grounder, and again in the eighth when McFeely hit an RBI single.
McFeely finished the night 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Shawn McGill went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Alexander’s two RBI give him a team-best 16 on the season.
Lincoln and St. Paul play the finale of their four-game series Thursday night at 7:05pm. Right-hander Jarrett Gardner will make the start and with a win, will set a new Saltdogs’ record for career wins.
