O-Royals Comeback Falls Short

The Omaha Royals could not finish the comeback in a 4-3 defeat to the Fresno Grizzlies in the finale of a four-game series at Rosenblatt Stadium Thursday night. The Grizzlies jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held on as Omaha rallied. The O-Royals plated a run in the eighth and two in the ninth before falling short.
J.R. House doubled home a run in the eighth and Brayan Pena and Scott Thorman had run-scoring hits in the ninth before pinch-hitter Brian Buchanan made a bid for a game-ending homer, but his drive to right field was caught at the warning track for the final out.
Luke Hochevar made his return to Omaha and gave up three runs, two earned, in six innings to suffer his first loss with Omaha this season. Hochevar’s previous stint with Omaha led to a 5-0 record and an ERA under one. It was his first start since being sent back down to the O-Royals by Kansas City last Sunday.
Omaha and Fresno split the four-game series and the O-Royals now head to Nashville for four games against the Sounds this weekend.
