Boys soccer championships end in dramatic fashion

Top ranked Millard West and Columbus Scotus are the boys state soccer champions for Classes A and B respectively following great games decided by one goal.
In the Class A final, with the score tied at 1-1, Millard West’s Cody Thayer kicked in a bouncing ball with 2.2 seconds remaining in regulation as top ranked Millard West won the Boys Class A state soccer championship with a 2-1 win over Kearney at Morrison Field at Creighton.
In Class B, regulation and one overtime period wasn’t enought and two overtimes almost didn’t decided the title game, but it was Columbus Scotus scoring with just under three minutes to go in the second overtime, getting the 1-0 win over Columbus.
Tonight the girls finals in Class A features #1 Millard North playing #5 Millard West. Class B, 8th ranked Holdrege plays top ranked Omaha Skutt.
