Wayne State pounds out 19 hits in win

The #18 Wayne State College baseball team pounded out 19 hits in a 13-9 win over Winona State on Friday afternoon at the NSIC baseball tournament in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Wayne State improved to 41-11 on the season with the win. Winona State was eliminated from the NSIC Tournament and dropped to 29-21 with the loss. Wayne State will play either Upper Iowa or Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday at noon.
Wayne State had 19 hits in the game compared to 16 for the Warriors. Eric Bond went 3 for 5 with two RBI’s and a run scored to lead the way offensively for WSC in the win. John Plasha went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Alex Koch and Mike Bisenius each added two hits and a homer for the Wayne State. Austen Wisroth (7-1) earned the win on the mound for WSC. Wisroth allowed five runs and 11 hits with one walk and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. Sam Rathbun earned his first save of the season for Wayne State. Rathbun allowed one run on two hits in the final three innings of work. Jared Anderson went 3 for 5 with four RBI’s, and Tony Mueller went 3 for 5 with two RBI’s for Winona State in the loss. Mueller (4-4) also took the loss on the mound for the Warriors.
