Wayne State wins NSIC opener in extras

The #18 Wayne State College baseball team opened NSIC Tournament play with an 8-7 win over Augustana in 10 innings on Thursday afternoon in St. Cloud, Minnesota.Wayne State led for most of the way, but the Vikings tied the game in the ninth inning. WSC’s Brandon Polk delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the tenth inning to score Nick Bidroski with the winning run for the Wildcats.
With the win, Wayne State improved to 40-11 on the season. The Wildcats will now take on Winona State on Friday at 3:30 to continue play in the NSIC Tournament. Augustana dropped to 27-22 with the loss. The Vikings will take on Minnesota State at noon on Friday in a loser’s bracket contest.
