The Omaha Royals took the opening game of a four game road series against the Oklahoma City RedHawks 15-9 Tuesday night. The Royals scored runs in six different innings, including four runs in the first and fourth innings. Cory Aldridge drove in five of the 15 runs on four hits to pace the Omaha offense.
The Royals notched the opening four runs off RedHawks starter and top Texas Rangers prospect Neftali Feliz. The RedHawks were able to halve the deficit after one inning, and eventually tied the score at five after three innings.
Omaha would regain the lead for good in the top of the fourth inning. Oklahoma City reliever Kason Gabbard allowed four runs in the inning on three hits and three walks. After the RedHawks got one run back in the bottom of the inning, the Royals padded their lead with three in the fifth, two in the seventh, and one in the eighth. Oklahoma City rallied for runs in the seventh on Greg Golson’s first home run of the season, a two-run shot, and a solo blast from Kevin Richardson.
The O-Royals and RedHawks continue this series Wednesday night with Brandon Duckworth getting the start for Omaha against Elizardo Ramirez.
