UNL says no to U.S. Soccer

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is saying NO thanks to being considered by U.S. Soccer as a host venue for the World Cup. UNL spokeswoman Kelly Bartling tells us that they determined it wasn’t workable.
“The football field is artificial turf with permanent lines and so that would not work and our soccer field is not of  regulation size for this use and would not meet the fieldcrequirement.”
Bartling also says that there are various scheduling conflicts over the summer month. Memorial Stadium’s selection was considered a long shot. Of the 70 stadiums on the initial list, up to 12 would likely be used if the United States is selected to host the World Cup.
