Father of BSDC patient speaks out

The father of a patient who died after not receiving prompt or appropriate emergency medical care at The Beatrice State Developmental center, says it appears that things are moving in the right direction at the Beatrice center. David Manes and Tina Manes daughter Olivia, died in January, after suffering a seizure.
“As far as what happened with Olivia, It’s really unfortunate that everything went wrong that night that she passed on, how do you point fingers? We feel that it was unintentional, but yet things could have been avoided.”
The Manes have been critical of Nebraska retaining the head of the Developmental Disabilities section of HHS, John Wyvill. The filed a claim against the state, which was settled out of court.
