NU softball splits at KU

NU senior Molly Hill pitched a two hit shutout as the Huskers beat KU 4-0 in game one of a doubleheader. In game two, the Jayhawks scored two in the bottom of the seventh on a bases loaded single and won 2-1.
In game one, the Huskers scored once in the third and twice in the fourth inning which was plenty for Hill who improved to 16-7 on the year with her second Big 12 win. The Huskers even added an insurance run in the 7th.
Hill managed to get the shutout despite her defense committing three errors. Meghan Mullin went 2 for 4 as she and Haley Long each scored and drove in a run.
In the second game, the Huskers appeared ready to complete the sweep, but couldn’t hold on to a 1-0 lead in the last inning as KU’s Elle Pottorf hit the bases-loaded, two-run single to end the game in a walk-off 2-1 win for the home team.
The Huskers snapped a four game losing streak with the game one win, but fall to 3-5 in the Big 12, 26-11 overall.
