I knew the Husker baseball team lost a lot of quality arms last year, but I didn’t think it would hurt them this much, but poor pitching cost the Huskers a 9-7 loss at Wichita State. Relief pitcher Mike Nesseth gave up a single and then hit two batters with two outs before giving up a two run hit in the 8th innings as the Huskers have dropped five of their last seven.
Clinton McKeever hit the single that broke the 7-7 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning. McKeever went went 3 for 4 with four RBIs to lead the Shockers. Jed Hanson and Jake Mort both homered for Nebraska while Kyle Bubak had two hits and scored twice for the Huskers who are now 16-11-1.
The Huskers return home to begin an eight-game homestand on Friday night, as they begin a three-game series with Kansas State. Single-game tickets for the annual Nebraska-Creighton baseball game at Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium on Tuesday, May 12, go on sale today at Ticketmaster locations across the state. Tickets range from $9 to $12.
