Governor Sanford to President Obama: I'll take the money on my terms

Governor Mark Sanford wants a waiver from the White House to spend a quarter of the state’s stimulus money as he sees fit. The Governor continues to oppose the stimulus package, saying he doesn’t believe we should spend — or even accept– “money that we don’t have.”
The governor made his announcement in press conferences in three regions of the state, Spartanburg, Columbia and Charleston. At the SC Statehouse in Columbia, state and national press were on hand to hear his latest stance in a highly publicized war of words with the Obama administration and allies over the need to issue stimulus money.
