A state appeals court panel agreed with a lower court judge who refused to allow Lawrence Phillips to withdraw his no contest plea involving a May 2000 run-in with his then-live-in girlfriend.
Phillips, former Nebraska I-back and NFL running back with the Rams, is serving a 10-year prison sentence for his October 2006 conviction on seven felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon for aiming a car at a group of people after an August 2005 pickup football game.
