Omaha odds-n-ends

I just picked up on a couple of stories I wanted to pass along to our listeners and readers who live in the Omaha area.  A local baseball team gets national recognition and playoff hockey tickets went on sale today.
Millard West, the Class A runner-up in baseball last season, is getting national attention by showing up on two polls.
The Wildcats are ranked 11th nationally by the Web site Rivals High and 12th nationally by Baseball America. Millard West was 31-8 in 2008 but fell just short of its first state title, losing to Grand Island 7-6 in the championship game.
Tickets for the Nebraska-Omaha’s first-round CCHA playoff series against the Ferris State went on sale at the Qwest Center Omaha box officeTicketmaster, and the UNO athletic ticket office or by phone at 402-422-1212.
The best-of-three series is set for Friday, Saturday and, if needed, Sunday at Qwest Center Omaha. All starting times are 7:05 p.m.  Lower-bowl tickets are available for $16, and upper-bowl seats are $13.
