Trucker in fatal Omaha crash identified

Authorities have released the name of a West Coast truck driver who was killed in a crash in eastern Nebraska on Sunday.

Omaha police say 59-year-old Robert Shields, a trucker based in Califorina, was driving the big rig. Witnesses say the eastbound semi-truck was on Interstate 80 in Omaha when it drfted into the shoulder and hit a bridge support.
The trailer was carrying a tomato byproduct that exploded across much of the interstate, forcing the closure of both lanes of travel for several hours of cleanup.
Shields died at an Omaha hospital and doctors say he may’ve suffered a heart attack at the wheel.
