Governor vows to spend 99.9%

Governor Dave Heineman says he will spend 99.9% of the money coming to Nebraska from the American Recovery and Reinvestment act. He is concerned about one area that would extend unemployment insurance. The Governor says the bill was a federal decision and Governors are about implementation and execution. The money for infrastructure improvements has been divided up and the money for roads spending will be up to mayors.
Governor Heineman says that Nebraska budget administrator Gerry Oligmueller has been named to coordinate how Nebraska spends its estimated $1 billion in federal stimulus funds.
