The home squad, Chadron State wrestling won two of the first three matches, but nationally ranked #5 Nebraska-Kearney won seven straight matches and win 30-6.
The Defending national champion Lopers finish their season 16-5. Chadron finishes 7-6-1. Now it’s onto regionals. Many of these same wrestlers could square off February 28th in Kearney.
The Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team fell one spot to fifth in the latest Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Top 25 poll. Since the last poll (Feb. 4th), UNK lost to Western State, 25-6, in a dual. The Mountaineers are now the nation’s fourth ranked team. Nebraska-Omaha, with five wrestlers ranked in the top two, leads the way with 160 points and all eight first place votes.
