Former BSDC resident dies in Lincoln

A former resident of the Beatrice State Developmental center has died. A news conference scheduled for this morning has been cancelled as more information is gathered.  The resident was transferred under an order by the state to a Lincoln Hospital. That came after BSDC was found unable to care for the most vulnerable patients. A news release from St Elizabeths Medical Center says the patient developed a fever, was put on antibiotics, seemed to be getting better, but on Sunday the patient died after developing another fever. An autopsy will take place. The patients name is not being released. 35 to 40 patients have been ordered moved by the state following a string of deaths at the Beatrice State Developmental center.
