Chadron State, UNK hook up tonight in RMAC battle

Nebraska-Kearney visits Chadron State on Tuesday in a clash of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in-state rivals. The women’s game will tip off the action at 6 p.m.
The teams met in Kearney two weeks ago with both games decided by seven points. The Lady Lopers won 77-70 and the Chadron State men prevailed 72-65.
The Kearney women are 13-8 overall and are 8-5 in the RMAC after winning their last five games. The return of  senior Jade Meads to the Lady Lopers, who missed nine games because of an injury has sparked the team.  Since her return six games ago, she has averaged 21.8 points and 7.8 rebounds.
After losing twice in Denver over the weekend, the CSC women are 10-11 overall and 5-6 in the conference. They are led by junior Sunni Busch, who is averaging 16.4 points and 9.6 rebounds a game.
Busch, who has 992 points in her career, will be honored at halftime of the men’s basketball game by members of the White Buffalo Club.
The Nebraska-Kearney men are 7-13 for the season and 4-9 in the RMAC. Their leader is junior Drake Beranek, who is averaging 21.7 points and 7.1 rebounds. His scoring average tops the active players in the conference this winter.
The CSC men are 7-14 overall and 3-10 in the conference after defeating Regis 79-73 on Saturday night. Sophomore Tim McLaurin paces the Eagles at 18.0 points and 5.5 rebounds a game.
During the UNK double-header, the faculty of Chadron State will be recognized during Faculty Appreciation Night.
