Three former Chadron High School football players – lineman Jens Johnson, running back/wide out Travis Reeves, and quarterback Jonn McLain – all signed national letters of intent to continue their scholastic and athletic careers at Chadron State College today.
Johnson, Reeves, and McLain all cited Chadron State’s tradition and proximity to family as reasons for joining defending RMAC champs…
Jens Johnson, did not play most of his senior year due to a knee injury, but he is widely considered one of the best lineman in the panhandle.
Travis Reeves finished his senior year as one of the most productive pass catchers in Cardinal history. He finished first in most touchdowns scored in a season (29), points scored in a season (174), and second in receiving yards in a season (663).
Jonn McLain chose to follow in his brother Joe’s footsteps as a CSC quarterback.
McLain ends his high school career arguably the best passer in Class C1. He holds regular season records for most yards passing in a season (2,303), most completions (146), and most TD passes (35).
McLain also holds C1 playoff records with most passing yards in a playoff series (983), most touchdown passes in a playoff game (5-twice), and touchdown passes in a playoff series (12).
The trio will join four other former Cardinals on the CSC roster.
