Creighton set for Valley matchup with Evansville

Creighton, the preseason favorites in the Missouri Valley Conference have won 11 of their past 14 games and are 14-5 overall, including a 4-3 league mark that ties them for fourth in the league standings.
Creighton tried to rebound tonight following an upset 74-61 loss at Wichita State in which the Jays were outrebounded 47-22.
Senior guard Booker Woodfox leads the team with 16.6 points per game and 90.4 percent from the free throw line. He also ranked second nationally in three-point percentage (51.1 percent) through games of Jan. 11th and right now is at 48.6 percent.
Also scoring in double-figures are guards P’Allen Stinnett (13.3 ppg., 1.8 spg.) and Cavel Witter (10.1 ppg., 2.6 apg.). Stinnett is a preseason all-Valley pick after sweeping MVC Freshman and Newcomer of the Year honors last season.
Witter earned a spot on the league’s all-bench team last year and is part of a Bluejay bench that averages 27.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.
Senior point guard Josh Dotzler owns an MVC-best 44 steals, while sophomore big man Kenny Lawson Jr. tops the Valley with 32 blocked shots.
