The city of Lincoln has decided to delay a vote until May on a proposed 15,000 seat arena in the Haymarket district which could become the new home for Husker men and women basketball.
Because of the sagging economy, the vote could not only be delayed, but put off all together. If that is the case, the NU athletic department would consider a $20 million makeover to the Devaney Center inside and out.
The facelift would include a brick exterior, skyboxes, preferred seating and the athletic department would build a $10 million practice facility next to Devaney.
Right now, Athletic Director Tom Osborne says building a practice facility is the number one priority. NU the only Big 12 school without a dedicated facility for basketball or at least having one under construction.
