Now it is time to get serious. After a successful run through the non-conference schedule, the Huskers will get a tough test from Missouri’s pressure defense with a 1pm Big 12 tip off on Saturday.
The Huskers have fared well against Mizzou winning all three meetings between the two teams last year. The Huskers have won their last three games by double digits, but they’ll have their hands full trying to get inside against Mizzou’s 6’9 forwards DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons. With no Alex Maric in the middle, Doc Sadler will have to come up with creative ways to score.
Nebraska has continued its strong defense during the recent surge, allowing just 58.3 points per game on 40.5 percent shooting. Nebraska entered the week ranked seventh nationally in defense at 55.8 points per game.
That will be a key for NU. Once the Tigers go to their bench, their team features five freshmen and a junior college transfer. The Tigers are more athletic than last year, but this will be Mizzou’s toughest defense they’ll face this year.
Listen to Doc Sadler’s weekly press conference.
